QA Automation Engineer / Test Analyst - Cambridge

Salary between £25k-£35k depending on experience. Full-time or Part-time pro-rata

We’re looking for a QA Engineer / Automation Test Engineer / Automation & Manual Tester. This is an exciting time to join with the development of new applications and integrations for organisations and customers using Agile methods and latest technologies in a focused and collaborative working environment.

We’re investing in automated testing to maintain a high-quality standard in our software applications. We are seeking a QA Automation Engineer / Test Analyst who will ensure quality and best practice from defining business and technical requirements to test execution via manual testing and automation scripting.

The ideal candidate is a QA professional qualified and experienced in test processes (ISTQB, CTP, TMMi or equivalent), with career aspirations that include TDD and Unit Testing, Behaviour Driven Development using SpecFlow or similar technologies, becoming an expert in security and vulnerability testing, and gaining experience in all areas of software development.

You will have a good understanding of test planning, static and dynamic testing, regression testing, cross-browser testing, functional and non-functional requirements, understand TDD and BDD, Acceptance Criteria and User Stories, Agile methods, and technologies for testing and automation of QA such as SpecFlow, Selenium, and SQL tools.

Essential

Experience in testing commercial web applications and new developments

Selenium, Test Director or similar testing suite and QA experience

Extensive web application test experience and knowledge of web technologies

Strong knowledge of automation testing best practices

Concise and clear communication and effective listening skills

Solid understanding of web UI and browser-based testing within test automation

Experience with performance testing tools

Security testing experience (role-based access control, web application security)

SQL query writing and execution to inspect and interpret results

Detail oriented, but able to see the bigger picture

Desirable

BDD experience using SpecFlow or similar

C# ASP.NET MVC development skills advantageous

Security testing experience using Acunetix or similar

Integration testing experience (APIs, SSO integrations)

Responsibilities

Creating and managing a suite of repeatable automated and manual test scripts

Preparation of test plans, test scripts, evaluating and reporting results

Working closely with developers to manage TDD automated testing integration, and BAs to create BDD specifications and acceptance criteria

Automated and manual testing of new software developments

Provide technical support for the team, internal users and customers to assist in reproducing reported issues and provide clear information to facilitate solutions

Advise and collaborate with stakeholders on the QA approach the wider team should take, to ensure high-quality, risk-assessed deliverables

Follow a risk-based approach to QA, make risk-based recommendations and identify, assess and escalate quality risks

Where appropriate, write, develop and maintain automated Test Scripts within an Automation Framework to ensure maximum coverage, quality and scalability across products

Contribute to developing test processes and improvements

Report on testing progress, technical support issues, and areas of risk
